Spirit come to us
We are your people

Spirits may not have been high when we eventually arrived at the Dominican Retreat Centre in Montenotte in the early hours of Saturday morning but our spirits were very definitely soaring by the time we left on Monday afternoon (and not because we were happy to be leaving!).
The talks, stories and anecdotes from Pilar and Geraldine on the subject of spirituality were very well received. On reflecting on the words of "Spirit come to us" we all agreed that the phrases "fire of your love" and "words beyond the power of speech" were the strongest images of the Holy Spirit in this song (our anthem for the weekend).
The question of spirituality had us basically flummoxed but I think we were all clearer in our understanding of it by the end of the weekend. While surrounded by trees we made a web of life from green wool and later discovered that Jesus is our life jacket.
The prayer that weekend can only be described as both beautiful and powerful. Brendan and Erica gave us food for thought (thank you both) while a special thanks must be extended to Simon Roche OP who celebrated Mass with us on Saturday evening. On Sunday evening we lived and reflected on the creation story, while Monday morning found us dancing to "A New Dawn/This is what I Pray" by Gavin Byrne and "Celtic Blessing" by Geraldine Flanagan.
A very enjoyable and inspiring weekend was had by all and I know that in the words of the song, we continue to sing God's praise "with words beyond the power of speech".
Go raibh míle maith agaibh to Pilar and Geraldine. Without your tremendous work and preparation the weekend would not have been such a success. A very special thanks to Tricia, Nioclás, Brendan, Myles and Jennifer without whom the weekend would not have been possible. And I'm sure I speak for everyone when I extend a very sincere thank you to the ice-cream man who greeted us each morning!
